Cosplay and roleplay communities in 2026 — where creators are regrouping

Cosplayers and roleplayers have the same problem for opposite reasons.

Cosplay needs an audience, and the platforms with audiences treat three months of work like any other fifteen seconds of content. Roleplay needs a room, and the platforms with rooms are invisible to anyone not already inside them.

Both groups lost something when Amino faded. Here is where they are now.

For cosplayers

What you actually need

Where cosplayers are

Instagram has the audience and the brands, and still the best place for pure reach. The algorithm decides whether the build gets seen, and increasingly prefers video to photography.

TikTok rewards process — the fifteen-second transformation. Growth is real; the audience is there for the format more than for you.

Reddit gives honest critique from people who build things, and forgets you in a day.

Discord is where the help lives. Patterns, wiring, foam. Also where nothing you post can ever be found again.

For roleplayers

What you actually need

Where roleplayers are

Discord carries most roleplay now — channels per thread, the format roughly fits. Finding a server is word of mouth, and a year of writing disappears into scrollback.

Tumblr still has a real roleplay culture, and discovery is tags and luck.

Toyhouse is excellent for keeping a character — profile, art, lore, relations — and is not somewhere you go daily.

Forums still exist and still work, and are a hard sell to anyone under twenty-five.

The creator network we are building

Demi Gods Universe was built for exactly this overlap: people who make things and want somewhere the making counts.

Your character has a home, permanently

Claim a name nobody else on the network can ever take. Write the origin. Choose an alignment. Build powers on a 100-point budget where every strength costs and every weakness gives points back — so nobody can afford to be untouchable, and anyone who opens your profile sees both halves.

For roleplayers that is a character sheet other people can read before writing with you. For cosplayers it is the character the costume belongs to.

Communities that can be found

An alliance is your group — its own name, its own picture, a private hall only members read. Unlike a Discord server, alliances appear in the Universe, so people looking for a cosplay guild or a roleplay circle can find yours and ask to join. Nobody enters until a member says yes.

Work that gets the whole screen

The feed is full screen, one post at a time. A build, a shoot, a scene, a piece of art — it gets the entire phone, not a thumbnail between adverts.

Standing you earn

Power 10 to Ascendant, through what you make. Power cannot be bought. Followers do not generate it. Your profile shows which achievement gave you every point.

For a cosplayer that means a reputation built on work rather than on reach. For a roleplayer it means the writers who put the hours in are visible.

Honest about where we are

We launched recently. Instagram has far more cosplay viewers, and Discord has far more roleplay servers. What is here instead is a place where the same people see your work, your community is findable, and standing cannot be purchased.

Early is the right time to arrive if you are the sort who would rather shape a place than join a crowded one.

What is coming

Whatever you use, do these

  1. Keep your own archive. Platforms decline — Amino taught everybody that
  2. Credit everyone, every time
  3. Post the process, not only the finished thing
  4. Use two platforms: one for reach, one for belonging. Expecting one to be both is how people end up feeling invisible
