Where to post cosplay in 2026

You spent three months on the armour. You borrowed a friend with a camera. You have forty shots, and now you have to decide where they go.

That decision matters more than it used to, because the platforms have drifted apart in what they are good at. Here is an honest comparison.

Instagram

Still the default, and still the biggest audience for cosplay specifically.

Best for: reach, portfolio, being found by conventions and brands.

The catch: the algorithm decides whether three months of work gets seen, and it increasingly favours video over photography. A carousel of beautiful stills can disappear without trace.

TikTok

Where the growth is, if you are willing to make video.

Best for: builds-in-progress, transitions, going from nothing to the full costume in fifteen seconds.

The catch: it rewards the process more than the result, and the audience is there for the format rather than for you. Followers do not transfer easily to anywhere else.

Reddit

Specific subreddits for cosplay are large and genuinely enthusiastic.

Best for: real feedback from people who build things, and honest critique when you ask for it.

The catch: you are a username. There is no portfolio, and a great post is forgotten in a day.

Discord

Where most cosplay *communities* actually live now.

Best for: help while you are building — foam questions at midnight, pattern advice, people who will talk you through a wiring problem.

The catch: nothing you post is findable. It scrolls away, and nobody outside the server will ever see it.

Tumblr

Still alive, still full of people who care about the craft.

Best for: long posts about a build, process photographs, a particular audience that never left.

The catch: discovery is tags and luck.

Demi Gods Universe

Ours, so weigh it accordingly.

Demi Gods Universe is a community app for anime, comic, superhero and cosplay fans, where your profile is a character rather than a feed. You post builds, photos and video full screen, and the people seeing them are there for exactly this.

Best for:

The catch, honestly: we launched recently. Instagram's audience is larger by orders of magnitude, and if pure reach is the goal today, go there.

What most cosplayers actually do

Use two.

The mistake is treating a single platform as both, then feeling invisible when the algorithm shrugs at a build you bled for.

Whatever you choose, do these

  1. Photograph in daylight where you can. It beats a ring light nearly always
  2. Post the process, not only the result — it is what people engage with
  3. Credit the photographer and the pattern maker, every time
  4. Keep your own archive. Platforms decline; Amino taught everybody that
  5. Watermark nothing into oblivion. A small mark in a corner is enough
